Effective treatment is the biggest supporter of the development of the health system day by day. Effective treatment is achieved by enlarging the comfort zone of the patient, being exposed to less drug, not being effortless on the patient and being low in cost. Because of this, systems that perform controlled drug release, which have been studied for many years, have been preferred in recent years. Thanks to these systems, which do not require the patient to take new doses after a single application, the patient is not exposed to too much medication and also prevents waste of medication. Many methods are used for the application of controlled release and polymeric materials are more preferred. Microspheres are materials that can be synthesized in many structures such as polymeric, synthetic or even glass, and that provide controlled release and ease of application. Microspheres, in which the application rate and release time of the active substance and/or drug can be determined, have been applied with radioactive material loading on liver cancer in recent years and show successful results. It can be used not only in the treatment of the disease, but also in the diagnosis and detection, providing convenience to both the practitioner and the patient. In this article, the mechanism of controlled drug systems and the parameters required for the selection and synthesis of microspheres are mentioned, and their use in therapy is mentioned.
