It is thought that hydrogen, which is among the sustainable energy sources, does not cause environmental pollution, can be used as a raw material in various fields and can also be used as an energy carrier, will be a good alternative to meet the energy needs of the world. Hydrogen is not a natural energy source, but is produced by using various energy sources, mainly water, fossil fuels and biomass. Hydrogen is an important energy carrier, and its production and usage areas are increasing worldwide within the scope of sustainable energy and environmental technologies. One of the most important fundamental points in sustainable energy and environmental technologies is to provide energy supply security. Energy supply security is a factor that must be ensured at all stages from the source to production, storage, transmission and distribution of energy. For the security of energy supply, or in other words, in order not to encounter any problems in the supply of energy needs, every stage of the energy systems should be made more flexible. Although the establishment of a supply system in which domestic and renewable energy resources are at the center is a sustainable approach that has come to the fore in recent years, hydrogen technologies can be evaluated for many different uses among existing resources. In particular, green hydrogen produced from renewable energy sources is a remarkable alternative when evaluated in terms of energy supply security. Within the scope of this study, sustainable hydrogen technologies have been examined in providing energy supply security and creating energy policy. The contributions of hydrogen energy to energy supply security have been demonstrated with all its advantages, mainly because it is versatile in terms of supply and use and provides solutions for critical energy challenges.
