ANALYSIS OF THERMAL COMFORT IN ROOM VIA COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS

Ventilation is the replacement of air in a closed area. Air conditioning systems are design for providing the indoor air demanded under defined assumptions. Today, people are spending most of their time in closed areas such as offices and shopping malls. For this reason, the importance of area conditioning is increasing day by day. One of the most important conditions in area air conditioning is thermal comfort. While determining the comfort conditions, the amount of fresh air that feeds to the room and the distribution within the area stands out as the conditions determining the comfort. This study examines the fresh air fed into the room in terms of airspeed, temperature distributions, comfort conditions via Computational Fluid Dynamics. This study is defined the literature validation as method. The reference study is chosen from the literature for validation of simulation. The reference is including numerical, experimental values and CFD model is built for this reference and validated it. This CFD model is applied for this study model and results are examined for airspeed, thermal distribution, and thermal comfort conditions. The reference is including room conditioning that feeding and departing from the top area of the room and examine the conditioning and thermal distribution. This study, the room is closed, and dimensions are 1,80mx1,80mx2,85m and the surfaces are insulated. The bottom area and one surface are adiabatic and heat transfer is not occurring. The other area insulated, and the radiation effect is included in this study. The other surfaces are located on 30-degree air temperature defined area. The defined room includes table, person on 33,1 degrees and computer on 45 degree. Person is sitting on room and person and computer is used as heat-stable source on room and an air conditioner feeds air that 15-degree temperature and 0,15 m/s air velocity to the room. Also, the air velocity value is defined as 10 AHU. This study examined feeding the room with 1, 3, 5, 1,0, 15 AHU values, thermal distribution, comfort values are examined.
