ANALYSIS OF TWO SUCCESSIVE EXPANSION CHAMBERS IN A CIRCULAR DUCT

In this study, the Mode Matching Technique, which is a rigorous approach to the analysis of two consecutive expansion chambers in a circular sound channel, was applied to understand the effect of such a design on the reflection and transmission coefficients. This technique, which is applied with the feature of being continuous on the surface where the said areas meet with the help of eigenfunction expansion, has enabled us to reach a solution quickly as well as being a powerful solution method. In conclusion; In this method, which we applied to understand and interpret the effect of such a design on reflection and transmission coefficients, the accuracy of the mathematical solutions performed was carried out through a simulation program that includes many solution methods such as finite element analysis. At the end of the analysis, some numerical results were determined and these numerical results were compared with the simulation results. By means of these results, the effects of geometric parameters such as radii and room lengths on the scattering coefficients in each region are revealed. It has been observed that with such a scattering mechanism, some acoustic filter types can be obtained at desired operating frequencies and scattering coefficient ratios.
