THE EVALUATION OF DRYING PERFORMANCE OF WARP KNITTING FABRICS

Rapid changes of the competetion at the current textile industry, lead the textile companies to the value added products. In this context, warp knitted fabrics show a rapid development in innovative product categories. A wide range of products, such as fishing nets, plant and harvesting nets, conveyor fabrics, industrial fabrics, industrial fabrics for clothing, upholstery fabrics, medical fabrics, draperies, socks making, various bandages in the form of hoses and mesh packaging materials are some of the wide application areas of warp knitting. Warp knitting; It is knitting based on the technique of forming a surface by connecting the loops by moving in the longitudinal direction according to the multi-yarn feeding system. With warp knitting technology, stable fabric structures as woven fabrics and flexible fabric structures as weft knitting fabrics can be produced. In this study, the drying behavior of cotton, polyamide and polyester knitted fabrics was investigated experimentally. Production of mentioned fabrices were realized in a mill which makes warp knitting fabric production. The fabrics selected in the study are polyester, polyamide and cotton, which are commonly used in warp knitted fabric production. The fabrics used in the experimental study were conditioned at 200˚C temperature and 65% relative humidity for 24 hours and physical properties of the fabrices were measured. The counts of the yarns which generated the knitted fabrics waere determined as Ne 31.6 for cotton, 75/36 denier for polyester and 78/23 denier for polyamide. Loop density, weight and knitting analysis are determined physical properties of the fabrics. Cotton, polyamid and polyester warp knitted fabrics were placed to the püre water under laboratory conditions and amount of the absorbed water by fabrics were measured. Afterwards, the drying behaviors of the samples taken from different parts of the mentioned fabrics were evaluated. For this purpose, the fabrics were placed in a drying machine at 105˚C and their drying behavior was interpreted with graphics using the amount of weight they lost in a certain time.
