AVIONICS FAULT ISOLATION AND MANAGEMENT ON MODERN MILITARY AND COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFTS WITH EXAMPLE

In modern days, aircrafts have a lot of equipment for several systems both flight critical and operational. There are several ways to use aircrafts such as Search-Rescue, Combat, Cargo, Ambulance, Commercial (both VIP and usual) or Military. For these aircrafts, there may be some system problems due to related equipment fault or an electrical fault depends on the electrical system or cables that carry information or power.  All over the world in aviation, safety is the most important issue in aviation. FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), Transport Canada and EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) are well known and accepted authorities who publish several types of regulations for safety and keep these regulations updated continuously.  Time is the second valuable concern after safety. In commercial and VIP flights, delay problems cause loss of prestige, money and time for all airlines. A delay on a combat operation may cost several lives of soldiers or at least loss of an opportunity to remove illegal activity. The third valuable concern is money for all over the world. In commercial business area, the main purpose is to make profits. To keep aircrafts active, fault isolation is one of the most important issues. There are several ways to start fault isolation on an aircraft. This paper aims to show the fastest and easiest way to detect, analyze, isolate and manage faults for both military and commercial aircrafts with examples.
