AIR POLLUTANTS CONCENTRATIONS FORECASTING USING WAVELET ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS IN TABRIZ
 
Air pollution is one of the most destructive factors for human health around the world. It also has a negative impact on sustainable development and climate change. The increase in urban population has led to the development of urbanization, which in turn has led to the development of industrial waste and increased use of fossil fuels, resulting in increased air pollution. Tabriz is the biggest metropolis in the northwest of Iran and it is considered the industrial and commercial center in this region. Existence of numerous factories and industrial workshops in Tabriz, has made this city the second most polluted city in the country in terms of air pollution. In this research, an attempt has been made to provide a useful model for predicting the concentration of air pollutants (PM10, CO, NO2 and SO2) in Tabriz using Wavelet Artificial Neural Networks. Air pollutant's modelling is one of the most important preventive measures. In order to build a proper ANN model, meteorological data as well as data related to the concentration of air pollutants are first collected from meteorological and environmental organizations. After determining the effective input data in the forecast, the inputs of the artificial intelligence model are determined and the necessary pre-processions are performed on the data, in order to finally predict the pollutants concentration.
