MULTI- OBJECTIVE VEHICLE ROUTING PROBLEM WITH SIMULTANEOUS PICKUP AND DELIVERY AND A SOLUTION PROPOSAL

With the increasing environmental awareness, reverse logistics operations have gained importance. The aim of reverse logistics operations is to reduce waste generation and energy consumption in production processes. In reverse logistics, there is a product flow from the customers to the production facility as well as the distribution activity from the production facility to the customers. Extra transportation costs occur when collection and distribution operations are handled separately in the transportation system. This situation also causes an increase in energy consumption and causes reverse logistics activities to fail to reach their goals. The aim is to design the transportation system in such a way that the transportation costs are minimized by considering the two-way flow. In the vehicle routing problem with simultaneous pickup and delivery, customers have both pickup and delivery demands in the transportation system, and pickup and delivery is done simultaneously. In this study, a company operating in the beverage industry was considered. Empty bottles are collected from each customer and the full bottles are delivered to the customer. Product delivery to the customer and collection of empty products are done at the same time, and there is a simultaneous collection and distribution. A multi-objective mathematical model is proposed for the related problem. A hybrid approach is proposed to solve the multi-objective model. The proposed method was applied on the real data of the relevant enterprise.
