INVESTIGATION OF HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS IN CONTEXT OF BIOCLIMATIC ARCHITECTURE, LOCATION AND SUSTAINABLE LAND USE
 
In the beginning of the study, investigation of high-rise buildings in context of bioclimatic architecture, location and sustainable land use is searched about. Firstly, the importance of high-rise building design, construction, use and demolition stages are mentioned. Energy and resources consumed by high-rise buildings are higher than other buildings. For this reason, energy and resource planning are of even greater importance in high-rise buildings. Land, form, altitude, climate and landscape factor to which the high-rise buildings are located is determined. The importance of many criteria, to make high-rise buildings sustainable, such as use of floor areas, space organization, façade systems, vertical circulation systems, service systems, carrier systems and foundation systems are searched about. Also, bioclimatic design is defined. Bioclimatic Design is an effective approach that enables humans to optimize climatic comfort with the least amount of energy. In the study, examples of high-rise buildings are given with high-level bioclimatic design. The economic, social and ecological dimension of sustainable land use and location selection of high-rise buildings are mentioned. The aim of the study is to attract attention on the great responsibility to build a high-rise building. This is important becouse a high-rise building has the power to affect the silhouette of the whole city either positively or negatively. Study is made about the effects of bioclimatic architecture, location and sustainable land use of high-rise buildings. The study is explained through the example of Sapphire building located in İstanbul.
